Family Group Style

----

Click the *Family Group Style* tab to create web pages that look similar to traditional family group reports. It creates one page for every marriage (i.e. row in tblMR) in your Legacy database. You can exclude private marriages if desired. It will optionally include pages for unlinked individuals. An index page (or pages) is also produced.

----

*General Settings - Use short location names*

If unchecked, long location names are used. If checked, short location names are used. Applies to birth, baptism/christening, death, burial/cremation, and marriage locations.

The default is unchecked.

*General Settings - Include unlinked individuals*

If checked, *Family Group Style* web pages are created for unlinked individuals (no parents, no spouse, no children). This was added mainly for users who would like to use *Family Group Style* web pages for one-name studies.

The default is unchecked.

*General Settings - Include master sources*

If unchecked, the display of Master Sources are suppressed. If checked, Master Sources appear as footnote numbers next to the item to which the source applies. The Master Source is then listed at the bottom of the web page. Source Detail is *NOT* displayed (because of the complications introduced by Legacy's SourceWriter.)

The default is unchecked.

*General Settings - Source surety threshold*

Instructs *Web Page Creator* to *ONLY* display sources when the citation's surety level is at or above the selected threshold.

This setting is only enabled if *Include master sources* is checked. The default is 0 (zero).

*Privacy Settings - Exclude private/invisible info*

If unchecked, individuals and marriages marked as private or invisible in your Legacy database will be included in the program's output. Information enclosed in Legacy's privacy brackets ([[...]]) will also be included. Checking this box will exclude this info.

The default is checked.

*Privacy Settings - Tag for private marriages*

Because versions of Legacy prior to V7 did not have the ability to mark a marriage private, *Web Page Creator* lets you use one of Legacy's marriage tags for this purpose. If anything other than 'None' is selected, *Web Page Creator* will exclude all marriages with the selected tag number 'tagged' in your Legacy database.

This setting is only displayed if the Legacy database is less than V7. The default is 'None'.

*Privacy Settings - Suppress living info*

If unchecked, information for individuals marked as living in your Legacy database will be included in the program's output. Checking this box will suppress this info.

The default is checked.

*Index Settings - Single page index*

If unchecked, an index page will be created for each letter of the alphabet, unless there are no individuals whose last name begins with a particular letter. If checked, a single index page will be created. The latter is intended for use with small websites, such as one-name studies, where you will only have a few hundred names to deal with.

The default is unchecked.

*Index Settings - 2 column index*

If unchecked, index pages will be created in single column format. If checked, index pages will be created in two column format.

The default is checked.

*Other Settings - Edit Header/Footer*

Clicking will display the *Edit User Header/Footer* dialog box (shown below). Here you may enter your custom headers and footers. Information entered in this dialog will replace the {userheader} and {userfooter} tokens in all templates.

*Other Settings - Use silhouettes*

Checking will cause malesilhouette.jpg, femalesilhouette.jpg, and silhouettes.jpg to be displayed on web pages if no husband, wife, or marriage images are attached in Legacy. You may replace these default images with whatever images you like, as long as they use the same filenames.

*Web Page Creator* will *NOT* overlay these images if they already exist in the *Target Folder*.

*Create*

Click this button to generate *Family Group Style* web pages based on the settings you have selected. The program will first delete any \*.html files it finds in the *Target Folder*. It will then delete the entire contents of the \photos sub-folder.

----

When you are finished playing with the settings, adjusting templates, making desired modifications to the CSS, and generating the web pages, you can then publish your website using your favorite FTP program or your ISP's FTP facility.

----

*About Filtering*

If you want *Web Page Creator* to operate on a smaller subset of your database, you should use Legacy's many filtering features (search, tag, focus group, etc.) to export the subset to a new database containing just the records you wish to publish. Then run *Web Page Creator* against that smaller database.

*About CSS*

After Web Page Creator is finished generating the web pages, you can make adjustments to any of the 3 CSS files (located in the *Target Folder*) to customize how the pages are displayed.

The following CSS style sheets are used for the *Family Group Style* web pages...
